The Storage Virtual Appliance package allows partners to quickly and easily deploy virtual machines that are developed and tested to the same rigorous standards as the storage products listed on VMware's Hardware Compatibility Guide.
Package Overview
A Storage Virtual Appliance is a software only storage array that runs in a Virtual Machine (VM) and exports local storage to other VMs or physical servers. The VMware Ready Storage Virtual Appliance package (SVA) enables partners to certify storage virtual appliances for compatibility with vSphere and its standard features such as VMware HA, Distributed Resource Scheduler and vMotion. Once certified, your product will be posted on the VMware Compatibility Guide. The SVA package offers a comprehensive set of tools and resources to help software storage appliance vendors develop VMware ESX-based Storage Virtual Appliances that allow partners to combine administration server virtualization and storage services on the same x86 based server.
